DT RWS ("Ratchet Wheelmounting System") skewers clamp your wheels much more tightly than standard quick releases meaning greater security and increased stiffness.

The skewers are tightened by rotating the handle, which is on a kind of ratchet mechanism so you can adjust the position of the lever and get a good grip on it for maximum tightness.

The most interesting RWS skewers are the 9mm (front) and 10mm (rear) hollow aluminium thru-axle style option which fits standard DT 240s and DT 190 ceramic hubs, and standard forks and frames (forks have 9mm dropouts, frames have 10mm). It's very light at just 49g for the skewer and will significantly increase the stiffness of the fork or frame.

You can also use the 10mm skewers on any 10mm bolt-through rear hub, eg Hope etc.

To fit the 9mm through-axle to a DT hub you'll need the 9mm adapters (which replace the existing hub fittings) which we hold in stock, please note that centerlock and 6-bolt front hubs require different adapters, see below, and the adapters for front 6-bolt hubs are extremely hard to get hold of. The 10mm rear adapters are the same for centerlock or 6-bolt hubs.

Rear (normal thickness, ie 5mm) DT RWS skewers are available in lengths of 135, 140 and 145mm. These are all to fit normal 135mm rear dropouts but are different lengths to fit different dropout thickness.
