DT RWS skewers
DT RWS ("Ratchet Wheelmounting System") skewers clamp your wheels much more tightly than standard quick releases meaning greater security and increased stiffness. The skewers are tightened by rotating the handle, which is on a kind of ratchet mechanism so you can adjust the position of the lever and get a good grip on it for maximum tightness. It's not a true ratchet, in that you have to depress the button and rotate the lever but it is very easy to use.

The most interesting RWS skewer is the 9mm hollow aluminium bolt-through / thru-axle style option which fits standard DT hubs and standard forks. It's very light at just 49g for the skewer but will massively increase the stiffness of the front end. To fit the 9mm through-axle you'll need standard DT hubs and the 9mm adapters which we hold in stock. There is supposed to be a rear 9mm axle available but we haven't seen any yet.

Shimano XTR:
The benchmark for quality quick releases. Work well, fairly light and look good.

American Classic:
Available in steel or lightweight Titanium. Big lever for good clamping force.
