Orange (phones) suck

No not the bikes, we like them, but Orange mobile phones WHAT A WASTE OF TIME, I bought a new phone off them at the end of October and you have to buy a top-up at the same time (£10). It took ages and hours (OK, maybe 1 hour) of calls to get the phone to work and I still don’t have my talk time on the phone, I’ve called their “customer service” number which is actually an Orange mobile number so charged at maxi high rates and someone tapped my details into a computer. At least I could hear tapping, maybe it was just him drumming his fingers on the desk because nothing whatever happened, I may as well have just spoken into my phone without dialling any number first. Then if you phone customer services from your mobile phone it is literally impossible to get past the Most Annoying Woman In The World on their automated system no matter what buttons you press. If you phone a freephone number they refuse to speak to you unless you want to spend more money with them (which, sorry, aint gonna happen).

I’d just like to go back to the automated system for a minute. The woman they have recorded sounds like she’s speaking to 3-year olds and spends ages telling you how amazing Orange are, no they’re not, they are rubbish, they take your money, fail to provide a service then charge you loads of money on premium rate lines to not even sort it out. I’ve wasted at least 2 hours now and the next stage is to go and smash up the local Orange shop.

If you are considering getting an Orange phone, don’t even think about it, not unless you want to be driven to despair by their total lack of customer care or willingness to do anything for the money you will be pouring their way. They are just another of many big companies who will take as much money from you as they can while doing nothing in return.

Oh apparently this email will get you attention: executive.office@orange.co.uk

Well, I wouldn’t normally be one to spam, but I think in this case I’m more than justified to mention a website I know of where you can go to vent your rage about such things, and you CERTAINLY won’t find you’re the only one….!

Orange is consistently one of the poorest companies for customer service – been in the top-10 “worst performers” ever since the day the site launched I think!:

So everyone heed jon’s advice – Orange are best avoided, 2-for-1 cinema tickets is their only saving grace as far as I can see! :)

I had noticed them in your “top 10 worst” (Seb made and maintains Plebble for those of you who aren’t familiar with either of them) and it was no surprise to find them lumped in with Foxtons, NPower (now there’s another diabolical company we’ve had the misfortune to be a customer of) and The Labour Party (eh?).

Anyway it finally got sorted out. If you email that exective office address, you will be contacted within a couple of hours and the problem immediately addressed, give it a try. They called me from this number: 07973 100194, it might get you straight through or it might just be a general Orange number.
