Another Howies code though the email, another money-off voucher. Use FOOD23 if you want 20% off, but the whining bleats about still being a small company are starting to wear thin…
“I like us being small.”
…when they’ve been brought by Timberland (market value: $600 million). An interesting article on the Times Online website implies it’s not the money machine they thought it would be.
“Timberland is having a hard time right now”, says David. “My challenge to Timberland has been that if you have bought the car, you have to be prepared to put petrol in it.”

how do you get whining bleats from howies are small? those misplaced words are not the issue bec. howies may be owned by timberland but it stands alone and has a very different approach to it’s public than timberland, With david and clare there are the same core beliefs as there have always been. it’s easy to point the finger with a sloppy comment but if you read the article in the times there comes a point when multiple remortgaging, limited funds and a lot of families livelihoods at stake with the responsibilities of employees to pay it can not only get tedious but also frightening, stressful and downright debilitating, no matter what your beliefs are. survival is not always pretty but it has meant that the brand is still here with clare and david still at the helm, people still have their jobs and howies can still operate with the same beliefs it has always had and try to keep doing that whilst improving in other areas too. or should they have just jacked it all in and left everyone in cardigan with no jobs, more factories with less work just to keep the finger pointers happy? idealism went out the window with the hippies. i think you just made a real cheap shot. go outside have a look at the days sun and let it warm that pretty face of yours and cheer you up you old grump.
I wasn’t asking them to plunge the area into poverty or even whether or not they should have sold the business at all but to recognise that selling your business to a multi national will mean people won’t look at them the same way as they used to.
If my comment and criticism of this offends you I’ll make sure I don’t darken their door again.
