Here it is, we’ve been waiting for one of these for a long time. The latest and greatest upgrade you can make to a mountain bike (as long as there are no sheep around)… Reuben the trail hound.
He has no trouble keeping up, actually normally he forces his way past and mocks our feeble attempts to go fast off road, then rubs it in by launching off 10ft drops with ease (we’re trying to discourage that one).
We’ve only had him a few weeks after getting him from Rotherham Dog Rescue but he is getting the hang of riding already and has already found several new trails. With a bit more practice I think he’ll out-run us too.

You OWN dog! How cool! Looks young and lithe, and he’s landed on his feet for a life of outdoor adventure with you two. And he finds new trails too?! I need one of them.
Our pet has only just mastered walking!
Dogs are a good way to find trails, *obviously* we wouldn’t normally walk anywhere but when you have a dog you tend to go to different places, sometimes even on foot, and there are many trails to be found.
We have since found out that he is a Sprollie, half Springer spaniel, half Collie which seems to mean you end up with a dog who wants to explore everything and has the stamina to keep going all day…
p.s. babies aren’t pets, I’m not sure if you know this but it’s what I’m told.
I see, I thought you meant he just sniffed them out like some high-speed tracking device during rides.
But as you say you find the trails at the slower pace of walking I guess Freya is good at that; I mostly take her out in a Macpac rucksac carrier thing (which is the best thing I’ve bought for the project) and find loads of new places. I’m just not very good at discerning what makes a good bike trail while I’m on foot.
