Chris King R45 rear road hubs

The Chris King R45 road hub set is probably the best available today. R45s have all the usual features you'd expect from Chris King such as the most reliable, long lasting bearings of any hub, bright anodised colours and a fast 45-point freewheel engagement. They are also some of the lightest hubs around, at just 102g for the front, and 215g for the rear. Sure, there are a few lighter hubs available but none with the level of performance and reliability of the Chris Kings.

Chris King R45 hubs have adjustable bearings to allow for exceptionally free running and to take up any tiny amount of play which may develop over time.

The R45s are available with either Campagnolo or Shimano freehub bodies, and there is a ceramic bearing option - please call for availability, upgrade price is about £36 front, £66 for the rear at the time of writing. The bearings in the standard hubs are good, far superior to any others we've tried, but the ceramic ones seem to spin forever. Hubs with Campag freehubs include the Chris King aluminium lockring, which is the only compatible lockring; the standard Campag ones don't engage with the threads on the freehub.

Stock availability: Most Chris King R45 hubs are available "to order" rather than stocked at JRA. Most options are available almost all of the time, but please contact us if you would like us to confirm availability.
